He is the co-founder and deputy-chairman of UP-SIGN, he is also the Healthcare Co-lead.

What He Does:​

Ihtesham Rehman is a Professor of Bioengineering at Lancaster University.

His research focuses on:

• Biomaterials and tissue engineering

• Dental materials

• Cancer research

• FTIR and Raman spectroscopy Antimicrobial s and biofilms

Pakistan Related Activities:

He is Executive Director and Founder of the Interdisciplinary Research Centre in Biomedical Materials (IRCBM) in Lahore,  Pakistan. The IRCBM was set-up in 2008 as a centre of excellence with multi-disciplinary approach to Biomaterials Science and Engineering. The Centre works beyond subject boundaries with the aim of translating fundamental research to clinical care. Vision of the IRCBM is to take “materials from lab to patients”, hence, improving the quality of life of millions in Pakistan.
